Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney's Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios was the final Disney theme park that we visited during our 2011 Christmas holiday. We had already been to Epcot, The Magic Kingdom and The Animal Kingdom. This park was built during the late 1980s as a response to Universal Studios announcing they were to build a park nearby.

Although Hollywood Studios was first to open, many people say that the attractions are lacking compared to Universal Studios.

As we didn't visit Universal Studios (something we regretted) on this visit, therefore we can't really comment. However we plan to visit again later in 2012 and this time around Universal Studios is on our 'to do' list.

--> Once we made our way into the park we studied the free park guide map and realised this park was a little smaller than the others we had previously visited. As we only planned on visiting this park once that wasn't a bad thing, as we could take our time and relax a little as we made our way round.

This park is divided into different sections:
  • Hollywood Boulevard
  • Echo Lake
  • Streets of America
  • Commissary Lane
  • Mickey Adventure
  • Animation Courtyard
  • Sunset Boulevard
Although there are a great many attractions, rides and shows to suit all tastes, we didn't enjoy this theme park to the same extent as the others.

However this theme park was included in the 14 day ultimate Disney theme park ticket that we had purchased, which gave us unlimited access to the Disney parks for two weeks.

Some of the top attractions here are:
  • Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show
  • Tower of Terror
  • The Great Movie Ride
  • Star Tours
  • Indiana Jones, Epic Stunt Spectacular
  • Fantasmic
The highlight of this park for us was the Christmas lights in the 'Streets of America' section of this park. If you visit this park during the Christmas period this is not to be missed.
