Destination Florida

Cinderellas Castle - magic Kingdom
After many hours of talking and research on the internet we finally decided that we would take our yearly vacation in Orlando, Florida visiting all of the theme parks. We booked the holiday via Holiday Genie a UK based travel company as their deals were by far the cheapest.

They actually quoted us a price of £1600 for three people (2 adults and 1 child). However we paid a bit extra and upgraded to a better hotel, the 'Double Tree by Hilton near Sea World..

We decided to stay for the two weeks prior to the Christmas Holidays although we kind of guessed it would be one of the busiest periods of the year at the theme parks. We booked the theme park tickets online via Florida Tix.

We chose the 14 day Disney Ultimate ticket which gave us unlimited access to all the Disney parks for 14 days. This ticket includes:
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Epcot
  • Hollywood Studios
  • Animal Kingdom
  • Blizzard Beach Water Park
  • Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
We also purchased the 3 park Sea World 14 day ticket giving us unlimited access for 14 days to:
  • Sea World
  • Aquatica Water Park
  • Busch Gardens
The total cost of the tickets was just over £800. We also considered the Universal tickets, but decided to make that decision when we arrived in America as we felt we already had plenty to do and see all ready.

When you travel to the USA you need to purchase and ESTA, which is basically a visa waiver. This can be easily be done online and they cost $14 per person.

We flew from Manchester airport on a direct flight to Orlando with Virgin Airlines. We decided to travel the night before the departure, and stay in a nearby hotel as it was an early flight and the weather forecast was poor.

After a smooth flight we soon arrived at Orlando International Airport, passed through immigration, collected our luggage and got a taxi to the Hotel. On arrival we were all tired out, so we decided on an early night before what was to be the holiday of a lifetime.
